How to change the hair color on premium costumes?

#1
I wanted to dip my toes into color editing for personal use and possibly public use, but every time that I use the coloredit tool to change the hair color, it always turns into some variant of the default color and white. For example, Cammy's hair color is yellow. Every time that I would change the color in the color editor, it would be either dark yellow, light yellow, and so on. I've had no problems with changing the other colors of the costume, but it's always the hair that generally stays the same color.

Does anyone have an answer on how this happens and how I can change the hair color to something outside the default?

The ColorEdit tool comes with two versions, v1.01 (the filename is "sfvcoloredit1.01-forcharacterswith10colors.exe") which is used to edit the color file for costume with only 10 colors (such as all premium costumes starting from C4 and above), then v1.02 (the filename is "sfvcoloredit1.02-forcharacterswith15colors.exe") which s used to edit the color file for costume with 15 colors (such as C1, C2 and C3 which all of them have purchasable color 11-15). Note that all version of ColorEdit tool can't read the info for all EX colors, thus it also can't edit them.

So according to the title of your thread here, you gonna need the "sfvcoloredit1.01-forcharacterswith10colors.exe" one.

Some blonde hair costumes also have stuff in the SSS textures that makes it blonde despite what you put in the colour tool. That texture will have to be edited for the colour tool to work properly for hair colours. Double check the other textures too just in case, its been awhile since I did this fix.

I know which program to use the costumes in. I just need to know how to change the hair color outside of the default one. For instance, changing Cammy's hair color to where it's completely red instead of a shade of yellow. I can clarify if you need me too.

Is there any way how I could go about this. Such as extracting the texture, modifying the texture, overriding the default texture, and then modding the colors normally.

you need umodel to extract the textures.

you are going to need to edit the SSS texture which will have the hair painted yellow, you will need to paint it black instead. Also check the colour texture and make sure the hair is white or light grey in that one.

you can use brutalace's tool or a hex editor to import the texture back into the file

then you can edit it with the colour tool how ever you like

I have another problem that came up. Every time that I try to inject the DDS file into TexJector after editing it, it gives me the error "Start of texture block not found, cannot continue." Anything to fix that?

its either 2 things. its either the dds file wasn't saved exactly as the original, or the tool is bugged, which happens sometimes with that tool, so you will need to hex edit it back in instead

I saved it exactly as the original, but it still wouldn't inject the DDS file. Is there a tutorial on how I can hex edit it back in the uasset file.
