Character modding need help

#1
Hi  , i'm not so good at modding , i managed to make some mods work but i'm having trouble for the most part , my biggest issue is that i just bought the game and do not own any skins for my characters  + i don't really intend on spending money on skins for now .  i only have C1 and C2 for most of my characters but a large portion of the mods i see are meant for C4 C5 C10 and so on. I was wondering if it was possible to manually edit a mod that would for instance be meant for Ryu's C4 into Ryu's C2  (C4 to C2).  Could someone tell me if that's possible and if so how that would be done?       I install my mods manually using 〜 mods folder and putting ,pak files in it if that's relevant in any way.  i tried messing with the .pak files but found myself unable to open em in any way using multiple programs ( but take in consideration that my knowledge in this domain is absolutly inexistant and that i did not know what i was doing at all ) Any answer would be greatly apprieciated thx  Smile

. What would happen if i played online with a modded charachter against someone with the vanilla game ? would they see the original character model would the textures be f*cked ? can you invite a friend and play in a modded stage ? is playing with mods risky ? can i get banned or get some sort of a penality ?

They would see the non-modded version of your character.  For example, if you are using a mod that replaces Ryu's Story costume (C2) with Evil Ryu, the player online would simply see Ryu's default Story Costume, unless they had their own C2 mod installed for Ryu.  Each player basically sees whatever their local files contain.  So if two people are fighting and both have a different C2 Ryu mod installed, you would see your Ryu mod for both players.

If both players are using the same modded stage, both would see the same thing.  If only one party has the mod installed, the other party would see the original version of that stage.  The only issue that could arise here, is if the stage mod replaces a stage that usually has a KO transition, activating the KO transition may cause a disconnect or game crash.

Mods that are purely cosmetic are pretty much safe.  The only penalty I've ever encountered, was having my FM reset from using a CheatEngine script that made grinding Survival mod more bareable.  I've never heard of anyone getting banned for using a modded costume though.

I hope that helps!
